More than 2000 persons and families have been displaced and rendered homeless due to heavy rains.
The Limbe city mayor issued a decision for persons to evacuate affected zones.
In his press release, the Limbe City Mayor mapped out several areas which have already witnessed flooding and some areas which are at high risk of experiencing flooding or landslide. These areas are Upper Mowoh, Lower Mowoh, Cassava Farms, South East Community, Clerks quarter, Down Beach, Lower Motowoh, Middle Motowoh and Mabeta New layout. The Mayor order that people living these areas be evacuated to avoid futher loss of Lives and properties. As of date 2 persons are confirmed dead and several properties have been destroyed.
Limbe is found at Atlantic coastline of Cameroon, in the south west region. It is the Divisional capital of Fako,
south west Region, with an estimated population of about 800,000 inhabitants, it is the also know as the chief
slave town during the slave trade era. Limbe has also been the host town to more than 5000 Internally Displaced Persons who flee from the conflict in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon that started in 2016.
